She applies HR experience to her coaching, bringing knowledge of the principles of human behavior in the workplace and best practices in managing people and performance. Mary Ellen’s areas of interest and knowledge include team dynamics, habit forming, improving communication, and time management strategies.
For career and job search coaching, Mary Ellen coaches clients to maintain a level of job search activity that helps clients reach their goals while providing a structure and information that supports clients. Here, she also applies her HR experience on the “other side of the desk,” reading countless resumes, interviewing numerous candidates, and considering many employees for advancement opportunities. Mary Ellen knows what works and what doesn’t and current best practices. Her “secret sauce” is helping clients craft their stories about their best achievements in their career. These stories prepare clients to demonstrate the results they have achieved through their resumes and cover letters and in response to tough behaviorally-based interview questions.
Mary Ellen has 25 years’ experience in HR in professional associations, consulting firms, and law firms. Her areas of expertise include manager/employee relations, performance management, work/life programs, and recruiting and staffing. In 2018, Mary Ellen redesigned her personal and professional life, relocated to the Netherlands, and started a successful coaching and consulting practice. Prior to consulting, Mary Ellen was the Managing Director, Talent & Strategy for a professional association.
A graduate of the MBA program at University of Maryland University College, Mary Ellen has continued her learning by obtaining certification in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, as well as training in Lean Six Sigma, advanced facilitation skills and project management.
Mary Ellen earned the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from the International Coaching Federation and holds the highest levels of certification in human resource management from both the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the HR Certification Institute (HRCI).

Interests
With an undergraduate degree in music performance, Mary Ellen loves singing, as well as listening to music of all genres. She loves cats. When not sitting at her desk, Mary Ellen can be found at the Pilates or yoga studio. She is an ISTJ and a proud mother.
